An Inspiration for the Benton Harbor Community

Benton Harbor Arts District
Benton Harbor is a gem of Southwestern Michigan for so many reasons, but did you know a vibrant arts community is one of them? The Benton Harbor Arts District is s year-round destination for a mix of art, music, dance, theater, dining and family-friendly events.

Located in downtown Benton Harbor, Michigan on and around the intersection of Water Street and Territorial Road, the Arts District's shops, restaurants and art galleries serve as "the place" to connect with family, friends, and neighbors in the community.

If your house hunt includes homes in Benton Harbor, you should definitely visit the Arts District to see what our town has to offer. Our real estate agents are committed to helping Benton Harbor families make the most of their new lives, and yours just might include frequent trips to the Benton Harbor Arts District. There, you can do all these things and more:

  • Attend a Friday Art Hop
Once every four months, the whole Arts District hosts an Art Hop for local families. Always on a Friday evening, each Art Hop includes pop-up galleries, temporary art installations, live performances, culinary art vendors, and special events and deals in the boutiques and studios that line the District. "Art builds community" is the motto of the New Territory Arts Association, the organization responsible for building and maintaining the Arts District. These Art Hops are the NTAA's most popular project, and they help build a sense of community for new homeowners and longtime locals alike. At these Art Hops, you can meet local artists; enjoy local music, theater, and dance; and taste some of Benton Harbor's most delicious menu items.

  • Complete Your Benton Harbor Home with Art & Music
New to Benton Harbor? The easiest way to turn a house into a home is to fill it with sights, sounds, and smells that you truly love. As you get settled in Southwestern Michigan, make some pit stops in the Benton Harbor Arts District to find focal pieces for your favorite rooms and tunes for your first guests. This district is full of galleries, boutiques, and studios that showcase one-of-a-kind paintings, sculptures, glass and metal work, home décor, and more by local artists. 3 Pillars Music also makes it easy to find speakers, records, and instruments to fill your home with your favorite music. This music store has thousands of vinyl albums, including new, used, and collectable records that draw music aficionados from throughout Southwestern Michigan.

  • Enjoy a Beautiful Pocket Park
Benton Harbor understands the value of green public spaces, and the Arts District is dotted with pocket parks that are designed for artistic and recreational purposes. In fact, the parks and memorials along the St. Joseph River helped investments in more public art installations, hoping to build a local arts community and complement more somber sculptures. While you're in the Arts District, enjoy the artwork, memorials, and relaxing open areas in 9/11 Resiliency Plaza, Arts Park, Thayer Park, and Dwight Pete Mitchell City Center Park. These family-friendly spaces are small but special examples of our local commitment to make the most of every opportunity.
